THE FOUNDATION ECOLOGY & HEALTH

The Foundation "Ecology & Health" was established in February 1990 in Warsaw by a group of deputies and senators linked with the trade union NSZZ "Solidarność" and the movement of Citizens' Committees. The Foundation "E & H" is a non-governmental organization. The Foundation directs its attention to the health effects of natural environmental pollution:

• aids public initiatives in their efforts towards lessening of the general health hazard posed by the contaminated environment,
• conducts activities for the development of ecological education, especially in the field of health protection,
• wishes to stimulate scientific and publishing activities at the interface of ecology and medicine, by supporting research and publishing projects,
• plans to conduct its own environmental contamination control.

In order to fulfill its statutory objective, the Foundation does the following:

• provides legal organizational material and advertising aid to local and national ecological movements,
• performs expert studies concerning, in particular, health hazards, limit exceeding, epidemiology and methods of preventing contamination,
• conducts publishing and publicizing activities,
• runs its own environmental contami- nation control center,
• conducts economic activity.
